Gratitude is an attitude that I embrace wholeheartedly! There is always something to be grateful for regardless of the situation. Gratitude can make a bad day better and boost your mood. The key to gratitude is knowing that you control how you react to an event even when you can’t control the circumstances.
People are more willing to help you when you are grateful. Recently, my Mom passed away. I’m extremely grateful for the people in my life. While they couldn’t change the fact that my Mom had died, they were there for me. They offered friendship, encouraging words, and still check up on me. They made a difficult situation bearable.
The card from the Debate team I coach was one of the most touching examples. The kids told me to stay strong and thanked me for taking the time to teach them how to debate and for all they learned from me. It gave me a reason to stay strong because I know that I make a difference in people’s lives. This is the power of gratitude!
